The type of personal information we collect
We currently collect and process the following information:
• Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and contact details)
• Customer financial information including information about their mortgages, deposits and in some cases bank statements with bank details on for proof of funds for house purchases. 
How we get the personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
- You have enquired about a house we are advertising for sale or for rent or have asked for a valuation
- You have asked us to conduct a valuation on your property
- You have made a general enquiry
- You have enquired via Right Move who pass your details to us


We use the information that you have given us in order to contact you. We may sometimes use this information to match you with houses we are marketing even if you haven’t enquired about that one. We may send you property lists if you agree to this.


The financial information is only viewed by Thompson Young staff members.


We may share your name, address and contact details with solicitors that you have instructed or other customers that may be involved with a house sale or purchase together with your permission.


Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
a) Your consent.
You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting hello@thompsonyoung.co.uk.
(b) We have a contractual obligation.
(c) We have a legal obligation.
We do require some documents in order to carry out due diligence when it comes to anti money laundering in house sales.
How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored.
We keep your contact details for as long as it is relevant on our secure property software that only members of staff of Thompson Young have access to. We will delete this data when it is no longer needed, for example if you have completed on a house purchase with us and are no longer using our services or if you are no longer looking for a property and wish to be removed from our mailing list.


Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

 

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
